The Chase

Sheriff Calder (Marlon Brando) is the one honest lawman in a small Southern town, where the richest man, Val Rogers (E.G. Marshall), has long since stopped taking orders from anyone. When Bubber Reeves (Robert Redford) breaks out of prison, word reaches home before he does, to his wife Anna (Jane Fonda) and to neighbors with their own reasons to fear him. Arthur Penn lets the town's many lives press in on one another until nobody in it can keep out of the way.
