The Children

(1980)Directed by Max Kalmanowicz93 min · RHorror, Science Fiction
“...thank God they're somebody else's!”

A yellow school bus drives through a cloud of yellow vapor from a nuclear plant leak, and the five children aboard come out the other side with black fingernails and no interest in their parents. Max Kalmanowicz sets the film in a small New England town, where Sheriff Billy Hart (Gil Rogers) finds the bus empty and the road quiet. John Freemont (Martin Shakar) and his wife Cathy (Gale Garnett) wait for their kids to come home, and the kids do come home.
