The Children's Hour

(1961)Directed by William Wyler108 minDrama
“Can an ugly rumor destroy what's beautiful?”

A whispered accusation from one unruly student begins to spread through a private girls' boarding school. The target is Karen Wright (Audrey Hepburn) and Martha Dobie (Shirley MacLaine), the two friends who run it, and Fay Bainter's Amelia Tilford hears it first. William Wyler stays close to Karen, who has a fiancé in Joe Cardin (James Garner) and a school she built with her own hands, and who has to face people deciding what to believe.
