The Chorus
Clément Mathieu (Gérard Jugnot), a jobless music teacher, takes a post as supervisor at a boarding school for difficult boys in 1940s France. The headmaster Rachin (François Berléand) rules the place with punishment, and Christophe Barratier shows Mathieu starting to teach the boys to sing. Music here gives rough, unwanted children a place to put their attention and a reason to listen to one another.
