The Christmas Train

Tom Langdon (Dermot Mulroney) is a disillusioned journalist who has to cross the country to Los Angeles by train, and he decides to write the trip down as he goes. Along the westbound route he falls in with a car full of other passengers, among them Eleanor Carter (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), all heading for the same destination. Ron Oliver adapts the David Baldacci novel as a slow, snowy ride where the rail car holds the whole world.
