The City and the Dogs

(1985)Directed by Francisco J. Lombardi135 minDrama
“Why are you staring at me cadet? You want my picture on my bare ass or what?”

Alberto Fernández (Pablo Serra), nicknamed the Poet, is a cadet at the Leoncio Prado Military Academy in Lima, one of four angry boys who band together to beat a system built on boredom and confinement. Francisco J. Lombardi adapts Mario Vargas Llosa's novel, and a theft among the cadets sets off a chain of events that ends in murder. Lieutenant Gamboa (Gustavo Bueno) stands in the middle of it all, the one officer left holding the academy's rules.
