The Claim

“Everything has a price.”

Daniel Dillon (Peter Mullan) owns most of Kingdom Come, the gold town he built, and he got the mine that made him rich by trading his wife and baby daughter to another prospector twenty years ago. When a railroad surveyor, Donald Dalglish (Wes Bentley), arrives, a young woman turns up in town who is plainly the daughter he sold. Winterbottom shoots the mountain snow and the muddy settlement with a quiet patience that leaves the people feeling small against them.
