Max Simkin (Adam Sandler) has repaired shoes in the same New York shop for years, the way his family has for generations, until he finds an old heirloom that lets him step into the lives of his customers. Tom McCarthy sends him into the shoes of strangers, among them the rapper Leon Ludlow (Method Man). Back at the shop, Max sits alone at the worn bench, a pair of other men's shoes waiting beside him.
