The Collector

“Almost a love story.”

A woman disappears, and the man responsible wants nothing from her except that she stay. Freddie Clegg (Terence Stamp) keeps Miranda Grey (Samantha Eggar), a young art student, in the basement of his rural farmhouse, and William Wyler plays it as a slow, quiet siege. Miranda sits in that basement room, and Freddie stands on the other side of the door.
