The Comeback Trail

“Hollywood has never pulled a stunt like this!”

Max Barber (Robert De Niro) and his partner Reggie Fontaine (Morgan Freeman) owe money to the mob, so they cook up a scheme to cash in on an insurance policy. They hire an aging movie star, Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones), for a western they plan to make, then set out to see him done in on set. George Gallo plays it dry and deadpan, and Max keeps working the angles, a man who has run out of other ways to pay his debts.
