The Commander

Salvatore Todaro (Pierfrancesco Favino) commands the Italian submarine Cappellini in the early months of the Second World War. One night in the Atlantic his crew sinks an armed merchant ship running without lights, and he orders the 26 Belgian survivors pulled out of the water. Edoardo De Angelis puts them on board with Georges Vogels (Johan Heldenbergh), the enemy captain, and the two men eye each other across the cramped deck.
