“In America, we give our lives to our jobs. It's time to take them back.”

Bobby Walker (Ben Affleck) wants to keep what he has: the sales job, the house, the Porsche in the garage. Then corporate downsizing leaves him and two of his co-workers without work, including Phil Woodward (Chris Cooper), and the three have to work out who they are as husbands and fathers. John Wells directs the ensemble plainly, giving the layoffs and the household fallout the same flat, unhurried look.
