Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) are called to a working-class home in Enfield, England, where a poltergeist has pinned a young girl, Janet Hodgson (Madison Wolfe), to her bedroom ceiling. The entity grows bolder each night, moving furniture and speaking through the possessed child's mouth. James Wan builds dread through the ordinary rooms of a small house, where terror escalates in the dark.
