The Consequence

Thomas Manzoni (Ernst Hannawald), the teenage son of a prison warden, ends up drawn to Martin Kurath (Jürgen Prochnow), an inmate serving time inside the same walls where his father works. Wolfgang Petersen, adapting Alexander Ziegler's autobiographical novel, follows them past Martin's release, when the two try to build a life together. Everyone around them has an opinion about it, and neither of them is left alone long enough to find out whether it can last.
