The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover

“Lust...Murder...Dessert. Bon Appetit!”

Albert Spica (Michael Gambon), a London gangster, takes over an upscale French restaurant and eats there every night, shouting at the staff and driving the other diners away. His wife Georgina (Helen Mirren) can hardly sit at the same table, and she starts a quiet affair with a regular guest, Michael (Alan Howard). Peter Greenaway sets it all in huge, deeply colored rooms, where Georgina keeps meeting her lover in the shadow of a man who watches everything.
