The Counselor

“Sin is a choice.”

The Counselor (Michael Fassbender), a lawyer with a fiancée, Laura (Penélope Cruz), and money to spare, wants more, so he steps into a drug deal with Reiner (Javier Bardem) and Westray (Brad Pitt) along the Texas-Mexico border near Ciudad Juárez. Ridley Scott directs a script by Cormac McCarthy, and the talk is slow and polished. McCarthy's characters keep saying that choices have consequences, and the cartels they deal with are in no hurry to prove it.
