The Countess

“She sacrificed all for love and others for beauty”

Girls are vanishing from the villages around a castle in 17th-century Hungary, and the trail leads toward Countess Erzsébet Báthory (Julie Delpy), a powerful widow whose years are starting to show. She has fallen hard for István Thurzó (Daniel Brühl), a man far younger than she is, and Delpy, who also wrote the film, keeps her eye on that desire. Erzsébet comes to believe blood can hold off her aging, and she stakes everything on that belief.
