The Court Jester

“We asked Shakespeare and Francis Bacon would they declare which one wrote this and they both said, “Get outta here!””

Hubert Hawkins (Danny Kaye) is a carnival performer who wants nothing grander than a steady place among the outlaws fighting to restore England's rightful king. Maid Jean (Glynis Johns) sends him into the castle disguised as the court jester, where Sir Ravenhurst (Basil Rathbone) keeps close watch. Directors Norman Panama and Melvin Frank film it all in Technicolor, with Hubert standing in the great hall in his jester's cap and bells.
