The Courtship of Eddie's Father

“Every boy needs a mother... even if Dad has to marry her!”

Tom Corbett (Glenn Ford) is a widowed father raising his seven-year-old son, Eddie (Ron Howard), and dating a string of women who are not the one Eddie has in mind. Eddie has settled on the girl next door, Elizabeth Marten (Shirley Jones), and he sets about steering his father toward her. Vincente Minnelli puts a small boy's plan against a grown man's grief, and Tom has to decide whether he's ready to love again before Eddie loses the family he is trying to rebuild.
