The Cow

The cow is the only one in the village that belongs to Masht Hassan (Ezzatollah Entezami), and he loves her more than anyone there, so when he leaves for the capital for a while, the others settle on what to tell him if she dies. She dies. The villagers, Islam (Ali Nasirian) among them, are afraid of how he will take it. Dariush Mehrjui adapts Gholam-Hossein Saedi's own short story, and many critics count it as the first film of the Iranian New Wave.
