The Cow and I

In 1942, Charles Bailly (Fernandel), a French prisoner of war, is put to work on a farm in Germany. He decides to walk home to France, leading a cow he has named Marguerite, and her slow plodding gives him cover on the road. Henri Verneuil sends them across the whole country together, and Charles keeps his eyes on the road ahead and one hand on the rope.
