Joshua (John David Washington) is a former special forces agent still grieving the disappearance of his wife, Maya (Gemma Chan). In 2070, fifteen years after an AI set off a nuclear blast in Los Angeles, he is sent to kill the Creator, the architect behind a weapon said to end the war. Gareth Edwards puts him alongside Alphie (Madeleine Yuna Voyles), and the mission turns on what he feels for her.
