The Crime of Padre Amaro

“Lead us not into temptation”

Padre Amaro (Gael García Bernal) is a young priest sent to a small Mexican parish to assist the aging Padre Benito Díaz (Sancho Gracia). Carlos Carrera sets him down among the pious women of the congregation, where Amelia (Ana Claudia Talancón), a teenage parishioner, takes notice of him. Her mother is already tangled up with Benito, and Amaro stands to lose his vocation and his standing.
