“Evil rises to new heights.”

A remote mountain college in the French Alps is the scene of a grisly murder, and Commissaire Pierre Niemans (Jean Reno) is sent up to look at the body. Meanwhile, a young detective, Max Kerkerian (Vincent Cassel), is working a separate case, the desecration of a girl's grave by skinheads. Mathieu Kassovitz sets the two men on parallel tracks until the clues tie them together, and Niemans keeps digging as more bodies turn up.
