“Ambition seduces. Power corrupts.”

A prestigious theatre critic Jimmy Erskine (Ian McKellen) receives an anonymous letter threatening to expose a decades-old secret. He hires a young researcher, Nina Land (Gemma Arterton) to help him track down who knows what he did. As they dig deeper into his past and into the lives of those around him, the walls of his carefully constructed life begin to crack, revealing that some truths cannot stay buried.
