The Cup
“Buddhism is their philosophy. Soccer is their religion.”
Orgyen (Jamyang Lodro) is a young Tibetan refugee who has just arrived at a monastery in India, and all he wants is to watch the World Cup final being played in France. His fellow novice Lodo (Neten Chokling) feels the same, and the monastery's quiet routines of prayer and study start to give way to soccer fever. Khyentse Norbu, making his feature debut, tells it as a comedy and casts real monks alongside his young leads.
