Wallis (Michael Redgrave) works up a new weapon, the bouncing bomb, while Wing Commander Guy Gibson (Richard Todd) takes command of the newly formed 617 Squadron. Michael Anderson films it as a docudrama, with the drawings, tests and training runs given the same weight as the flying.
