“They love me for what I'm not... ...they hate me for what I am.”

Brian Clough (Michael Sheen) wants the one thing his rival Don Revie (Colm Meaney) has, which is the Leeds United job and the respect that comes with it. He gets it in 1974, then walks into a dressing room full of players who play dirty and have no interest in his methods, without Peter Taylor (Timothy Spall) beside him. Tom Hooper shoots it in the faded browns of the seventies, cutting between Clough's Leeds and the years that made him.
