The Danish Girl
“Find the courage to be yourself.”
Copenhagen, 1926. Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander) is a painter married to Einar (Eddie Redmayne) until he puts on women's clothes for a sitting and recognizes himself as Lili. He becomes the woman he always was, and Gerda watches the man she married disappear into someone else. Tom Hooper photographs the unraveling in soft light and careful frames, letting the camera linger on the space between them as their life together narrows.
