Copenhagen, 1926. Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander) is a painter married to Einar (Eddie Redmayne) until he puts on women's clothes for a sitting and recognizes himself as Lili. He becomes the woman he always was, and Gerda watches the man she married disappear into someone else.
