The Dark Backward

“It's the world inside out.”

Marty Malt (Judd Nelson), a garbage man, wants to be a stand-up comedian, and he stinks at it. His friend Gus (Bill Paxton) plays accordion behind him and keeps telling him he's great. Adam Rifkin sets the whole thing among the trash routes and dive stages of a city where nobody laughs, and Marty keeps going back to the microphone, sure the next set is the one that works.
