“SENSATIONAL SUSPENSE DRAMA!”

Al Walker (William Holden) leads a band of escaped convicts into a family's home and holds everyone inside, but he can't stop thinking about a dream that keeps coming back. The man of the house is Dr. Andrew Collins (Lee J. Cobb), a psychologist, and Al wonders if he can read it. Rudolph Maté keeps the gang and the family in the same rooms through the night, and the doctor has to weigh how much to tell a man who is holding his household hostage.
