“Where will you be?”

Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), a paleoclimatologist, wants someone at the UN to listen when he warns that a new Ice Age is starting. They mostly don't, until a superstorm forms and the disasters begin around the world. His son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) is stuck in New York with his friend Laura (Emmy Rossum), and Jack sets out to reach him. Roland Emmerich builds the whole thing on one plain idea: the ocean circulation that holds the climate steady can break.
