The Day of the Owl

“What are 'friends' for...? Why, for murder, terror, extortion, violence and other profitable enterprises!”

In a small Sicilian town, a construction supplier has been killed, and nobody who knew him will say a word about it. Captain Bellodi (Franco Nero), a Carabinieri officer sent from the mainland, questions the locals and meets only silence, while Don Mariano Arena (Lee J. Cobb) watches from the center of town life. Damiano Damiani gives Bellodi a witness in Rosa Nicolosi (Claudia Cardinale), a woman whose own safety hangs on whether she tells him anything.
