The Day the Earth Caught Fire

(1961)Directed by Val Guest98 minScience Fiction, Drama
“The INCREDIBLE becomes Real! The IMPOSSIBLE becomes Fact! The UNBELIEVABLE becomes True!”

Peter Stenning (Edward Judd) is a London reporter who wants one thing, which is the story behind why the weather has gone wrong. His night editor and the veteran science man Bill Maguire (Leo McKern) are chasing the same answer, and the answer points to a cover-up. Val Guest builds it around a newsroom, where the facts arrive as copy and the people reading it have to decide what to believe.
