The Day the Earth Stood Still

“We thought the Earth was ours. We were wrong.”

A huge sphere lands in Central Park, and out of it steps Klaatu (Keanu Reeves), an alien who has come to judge whether humanity can stop wrecking its own planet. Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly), a scientist pulled in by the government, ends up closest to him, with her stepson Jacob (Jaden Smith) in tow. Scott Derrickson films the whole thing in clean, cold lines, with a scale that makes the people look small.
