The Dead

“A vast, merry, and uncommon tale of love.”

Gabriel Conroy (Donal McCann), an academic with a speech to give, arrives with his wife Gretta (Anjelica Huston) at the Epiphany dinner hosted by his aunts Kate and Julia in Dublin, 1904. John Huston keeps the camera among the guests and the table as the songs, toasts and talk go round. Gabriel carries the evening's small vanities home with him, unaware of what his wife is carrying.
