The Dead Lands

When Wirepa's band slaughters his tribe through treachery, Hongi (James Rolleston), a chieftain's teenage son, is left to avenge his murdered father so the souls of his people can rest. He is badly outnumbered, and his only way forward runs through the forbidden Dead Lands, where a ruthless warrior (Lawrence Makoare) has ruled for years. Toa Fraser shot the film in the Māori language and keeps the pursuit moving.
