The Deadly Companions

(1961)Directed by Sam Peckinpah93 minWestern
“ALONE... IN AN UNTAMED LAND -- WITH THREE MEN WHO FORCED THEIR WAY INTO HER LIFE!”

A bullet meant for someone else kills a boy, and the man who fired it, an ex-army officer called Yellowleg (Brian Keith), cannot walk away. The boy's mother, Kit Tilden (Maureen O'Hara), means to bury him far from town, so Yellowleg offers to see the funeral procession through dangerous Indian territory. Sam Peckinpah, in his first feature, keeps the long ride quiet, and Kit says almost nothing to the man who owes her a son.
