The Deal

The Labour leader John Smith (Frank Kelly) dies of a heart attack in 1994, and the party must choose who comes next. Gordon Brown (David Morrissey), the stern Scotsman everyone expects to succeed him, takes a call from Tony Blair (Michael Sheen), who has a different idea. Stephen Frears traces the friendship back to the shared Westminster office where it began, and what drives it is an agreement between two men about who gets to lead.
