The Death of Maria Malibran

A series of staged tableaux follows the life and death of Maria Malibran, a celebrated opera singer of the 19th century. Werner Schroeter fills them with arias and sung scenes, and Magdalena Montezuma plays the singer. Maria Malibran (Magdalena Montezuma) is shown as a woman who gives everything to her voice, while the tableaux keep her at the center of every scene.
