The Debt

“Mixing friends and business is a deadly combination”

Adam Borecki (Robert Gonera) and Stefan Kowalczyk (Jacek Borcuch) want to open a scooter business in early 1990s Warsaw, but the bank wants collateral they don't have. Then Adam runs into a former neighbour, Gerard Nowak (Andrzej Chyra), who offers to lend them the money himself. Krzysztof Krauze, working from a true story, films it in a flat, documentary manner that never lets the ordinary rooms feel safe.
