The Deep Blue Sea

“Beware of passion...”

Hester Collyer (Rachel Weisz) is married to a judge, Sir William (Simon Russell Beale), and wants passion that he cannot give her, so she takes up with Freddie Page (Tom Hiddleston), a former RAF pilot. Terence Davies adapts Terence Rattigan's 1952 play and lets the affair drag at her like a current she keeps wading into. Hester and Freddie are drawn to each other with a force neither can steer, and it is hurting them both.
