Why would a cop take a custodian for a gang member worth rescuing? That is how Mike Damon (Darren McGavin) sees Sidney L. Pythias (Jerry Lewis), a bumbling janitor he picks up along with a crowd of teenage delinquents. Don McGuire follows Sidney from the cleaning closet toward the Police Academy, where he trains for a badge with Damon behind him and a lot of nerve he doesn't quite have.
