The Desert Rats

Captain MacRoberts (Richard Burton) is a gruff, strict British officer in North Africa in 1941, handed command of Australian reinforcements who have no interest in being drilled. Robert Wise sets the clash between MacRoberts and his men against the siege of Tobruk, where Rommel (James Mason) and his troops are closing in. MacRoberts keeps his men in line the only way he knows, and he has no idea yet whether they will follow him.
