Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) moves from the Midwest to New York with one goal, to write for a living, and takes the first job that will have her. It turns out to be assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor-in-chief of a major fashion magazine, whose orders come quiet and are not to be repeated. David Frankel keeps Andy at Miranda's elbow, where the job eats her days and she starts to wonder what she is giving up for it.
