The Devil's Disciple

“One Devil of a Motion Picture!”

Richard Dudgeon (Kirk Douglas), a rebel in a Puritan New England town during the American War of Independence, wants nothing to do with God or the law. Then British soldiers mistake him for the minister Anthony Anderson (Burt Lancaster) and take him away, with General Burgoyne (Laurence Olivier) waiting. Guy Hamilton's film comes from Shaw's play, and Mrs. Dudgeon (Eva Le Gallienne) stands in her parlor, stiff in her costume.
