The Devil's Envoys

Dominique (Arletty) and Gilles (Alain Cuny) arrive at a castle at the end of the fifteenth century dressed as traveling minstrels, though the Devil has sent them to seduce everyone inside. They are welcomed by Baron Hugues (Fernand Ledoux), whose daughter Anne (Marie Déa) is about to be married. Marcel Carné made the film in Paris in 1942, during the Nazi occupation, and set it entirely in the Middle Ages.
