In Hell, Satan (Stig Järrel) has an itch in his eye, and he blames it on the virtue of a young vicar's daughter, Britt-Marie (Bibi Andersson), who is about to be married. He sends Don Juan (Jarl Kulle) up to Earth to seduce her before the wedding. Bergman makes it a light comedy, and Don Juan, who has not been in love in centuries, finds that the girl he came to ruin has got to him instead.
