The Diamond Arm

“A cinematographic novel in two parts from the life of smugglers”

Semyon Semyonovich Gorbunkov (Yuriy Nikulin) is a mild-mannered Soviet clerk who wants nothing more than a quiet cruise and a safe trip home to his wife, Nadezhda (Nina Grebeshkova). He doesn't know that a smuggling ring has mistaken him for its courier, and its men, Lyolik (Anatoliy Papanov) among them, start circling him. Leonid Gaidai builds the film around the plain idea that an ordinary person's decency can carry him through a world of crooks.
