The Diary of Anne Frank

The Frank family slips out of their home and into hiding in Amsterdam, where Anne (Lea van Acken) begins writing in the diary she was given. Hans Steinbichler keeps the camera close as the Franks and the van Daans share a small space where every voice has to stay low. Anne grows sharper with her mother Edith (Martina Gedeck), and the diary becomes where she says what she cannot say to her face.
